LIVING IN DEATH

You used to speak fondly
Of the skies, your music,
Those sunflowers you grew in your backyard
You were passionate
Your poetry excited you,
The sunshine, the rain you wrote about it all
Where did she go?
That girl who danced through life
Floating from one cloud to another
Always a positive outlook on everything
Where is she hiding?
She gave up, she got scared, didn’t she?
She wished for those skies to fall
Now that music was poison to her ears
Dead crushed flowers spread in her room
Somewhere from some cloud, she fell
I guess hell broke loose
When did she decide that she is hopeless?
That her life is now worth less than her death?
And even as she drowned
Who was it that made her not want to hold her breath?
She apologized for speaking now
Shrunk into a corner
Pressed into a wall
She used to give life to her own soul
Now she didn't want to live at all
~people aren’t born sad we make them that way
