I Am Not A Finished Poem

You are not poetry

You don’t have to fit in between the lines

You can be clumsy and not so neat

Unlike those verses that you write

People might define you in a sentence

But you can be countless adjectives, a multitude of words

A poem titled once, is bound for eternity, complete forever

But you, you have the freedom to change

You can be rewritten again and again

You'll have plenty of chances to reinvent yourself

You never need to settle

A poem can be placed in a division, pushed into a genre, a category

But you, you're your own connoisseur
