AFTERMATH OF HAPPY ENDINGS

I've read so many books with upbeat endings, seen so many movies and series with happily ever afters.

The thing is, when you're filled with warmth and happiness in the end, you really need some sort of assurance that the happy stuff will last. The uncertainty lingers on, I mean, okay, I get it, Cinderella got to marry her prince, but was she happy throughout? did she never want to work again or did her hard working personality just go in a deep slumber after her marriage? we don't really know do we? and that unknowing mystery literally kills me every time I think of it.

and also one more think that I'm going to add to this delusional and confusing thought is that- ARE THERE HAPPY ENDINGS?

aren't endings like sad and not happy at all? why would you want to end a movie or finish a book on a happy note. haven't we all heard that saying that goes 'there is no such thing as a happy ending'? like okay we are overjoyed that everything turned out well in the end, but that might be the end of the sentence, the final chapter, the ending scene. but this character that we care so deeply about, his life didn't end, did it?

I don't know about you all, but I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO A PERSON AFTER HE OR SHE IS HAPPY. you give us a sad start and a over-the-top middle and a 'thank you' at the end and that's just not enough.

I mean, knowing that Harry married who and became what really brings peace to my heart. But not knowing if Rory from Gilmore Girls makes me restless. And what the hell happened to Ben and Arthur from the book What If It's Us?

This could lead to a spiral, so I am going to stop. But really, what is the aftermath of a good, ecstatic story? and why do writers and movie directors not show it?

It's the good stuff I die for, not the sob story (even when it's important, but who doesn't like to see their favorite character's happy life?)
